Italian Diplomacy Tournament

You have several ways to reach it:

- By plane.

There are several good airports near Verona, and it is easy to find the right flight:

Verona (VRN), Venice (VCE), Bergamo (BGY), Milan (MXP or LIN) and some others like Treviso or Bologna.

- By train.

Verona main rail station is Verona Porta Nuova. It is connected to all main italian cities, and to Austria-Germany with a night train (but not only) going from Munich to Verona.

- By car.

Just get the address into your navigation system, and plan your trip accordingly.

During the games it will be possible to get drinks and beer with a discount from the regular price.

If you sit out or if you end your game sooner, the TD will join you in beer drinking or soccer playing.

Accomodation.

Verona is a very touristic city and there are a lot of places where to stay.

The dates are not high season, so the prices will be very nice.

If you have any special request or cannot find something suitable for you, please contact me.

Here are some offers I have find for july on booking.

Dinner.

Verona has some nice Chinese/Japanese restaurants with all-you-can-eat option around 30€ beverages excluded (this option was tested during the previous edition of the tournament and was quite tasty and successful)

Also other options are there.

I am flexible and you will have some options during registration process.

Depending on what is the main preference, the official dinner will be a Chinese/Japanese “All you can Eat”, or a German style beer restaurant with great beer and kitchen open till very late in the evening.

Another possibility is to remain directly at Campus Pub. They serve delicious hamburgers with fries and some other appetizers.

Social Activities.

There is an option to have a guided tour with an official licensed guide around Verona.

Our option is before the tournament starts on friday, or on saturday after round 2 and dinner (in this case German restaurant open till very late is the best choice for dinner after the tour).

During registration process (you still did not register?!? shame on you → register) you will be asked if you want to have the tour on friday (afternoon) or on saturday, and how many participanst will you bring with you.

* since it is an official guided tour, the price is the official one, and it will start from 15€ per person if we hit a minimum number of 10 participants, and will decrease if we will be 10+

There is the possibility to make the tour after Round2 (for those who can not be in Verona on Friday). The tour will start right near the venue at 19:30 and wil llast 2 hourss. This makes our dinner starting time to be around 22:00.

Both options you have in the registration form are fine with this:

- Chinese restaurant has the kitchen open till 23:30 (according to their website)

- German beer restaurant will serve food even after midnight (direct experience) and they have great beer

** Saturday guided tour makes us very tight on schedule, but this is an option I’d like to have for the players who can not be there on friday. This is my direct experience from Athens WDC: I really regret I could not arrive earlier for the great activities organized by Spyros, so I am trying to get you something nice even if you can be in Verona only on saturday-sunday.

After dinner (or for those who do not want the Verona tour) our venue will still be open for some beer, music and fun.

End November is time for Christmas markets in Verona. This is a great occasion to visit the city center surrounded by Christmas athmosphere. (https://www.nataleinpiazza.it/)

How much.

Tournament fee for participants is 10€.

If you sit out a game (if needed) you get 50% discount on the tournament fee.

Rules.

Scoring system – Olympic scoring system as we have seen at WDC Athens.

Scoring system detail:

1. In a draw

• Everyone gets 1 point per center. (34)

• 12 points is divided between dominating players:

  • 4 shares to topping players

  • 1.5 shares to players 1 center from the top

  • 0.5 share to players 2 centers from the top

  • points = 12 * (player’s shares) / sum of all shares

• 3 points to all surviving players

• 0.3 points per year survived for eliminated players

2. In a solo:

• Soler gets 46 points

• Everyone else gets no points

Rounds.

1st Round starts saturday 28 Nov at 10:00 (registration starts on 09:30)

2nd Round starts saturday 28 Nov at 15:00 (registration starts at 14:30)

between Round 1 and Round 2 there will be time to eat a delicious italian pizza delivered directly at the venue.

3rd Round starts sunday 29 Nov at 10:00 (registration starts on 09:30)

This is a small tournament. The TD will do everything to keep it simple and enjoyable.

If you stay more after the tournament is over, ask me and we can plan something great to do even for sunday afternoon or monday (if you stay longer).
